You are on your own now...

We are out; the blog is open for your questions amongst yourselves.

Good luck and we will see you all tomorrow for breakfast!

Clarification

There are three Feature Exibition areas. Take the AutoCAD block that is provided and add two more.

PS. Do not let such details make or break your design.

Check your work

There is less than an hour left.

You are in your last visit with the professionals and there is one more round of photography coming your way (so brush your hair).

Ask questions and make the best of what little time you have with these experienced professionals. Also you can blog any questions so they can answer them for you before they leave.

Good luck!

Ask yourselves...

Ask yourselves...
Where are you at this point in the design process?
Do you have a concept?
How much time do I have left?

Remember that you need a building and a concept to put all your ideas in.

Tip from the Coordinators

Don't forget that you can take digital photos to incorporate your sketches and your drawings into your presentations.

Hint from Laszlo Mohacsi

Look a sewer pipe manufacturing facility....

Where to dispose of what...

Friendly reminder: we are here to be environmentally friendly.

By the food table at the "Pit", there are new bins for recycling, garbage, and composting. The plates, napkins, and utensils are compostable. The cups are recyclable.

Comments from Laszlo Mohacsi

If everyone references the same shopping list of "innovatibe solutions", how is your design more successful (i.e. practicable/realistic in incorporating these, expressive, relate back to program, etc.)?

Comments to Students from Laszlo Mohacsi

Q: How much energy does the museum use right now as a baseline?

1- Consider potential synergy with other partners.
2- Parkway is closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday in the summer.

Coordonator Notes to students

1- Do you have all the resources? artifact photos? AutoCAD blocks? If you did not receive the email with the resource link, please come see us at the "Pit"?

Notes from the Coordinators

Sunday presentation schedule:

Team 7 presenting at 10:10 am
Team 5 presenting at 10:50 am
Team 2 presenting at 12:30 pm
Team 4 presenting at 1:10 pm
Team 6 presenting at 1:50 pm
Team 1 presenting at 3:00 pm
Team 3 presenting at 3:40 pm

Each team will be provided a usb flash disk (4GB).

Notes to Students from Laszlo Mohacsi

1. "Thoughts on design"
How does the design become more than just this design with these "green" attributes or ideas just pinned to it? Make sure all elements are truly a part of the design and reflected in the design.

2. "Vision"
What is concept beyond/before specific moves (i.e. Actulal approach to site/massiing etc.) How does this speak to the idea of innovative, sustainable design vs science & tech, their needs or expressed vision?

How can you give voice or expression to their initial idea/thoughts?

What will guide all the ideas/strategies and bring them together as cohesive work?

3. Process
This a concept design, so do not worry too much about the details. Then, take the ideas that you think make sense to develop.

Are their opportunities to engage other aspects of site/city/related funtion/user experience?

Question to the Student from Stephen Pope

Consider the parking facility on your site, and make it part of your proposal.

"How much parking space should be available, if any, any why?"
Notes from first visit:
1- Presentation boards are NOT required from the students. The museum will be making the presentation boards using your Powerpoint slides.
2- Judging criteria sheets were distributed yesterday. Please use them. If you need any copies, please come see us at the "Pit".
3- Total presentation time, with questions period, is 35 minutes. A time keeper will be present. An orange folder will be raised when 20 minutes have passed. A red folder will be raised when 30 minutes have passed to allow for at least 5 minutes for questions from the judges.

Let the competition begin!

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all settled into your charrette stations.

Friendly reminder: You are not obligated to produce any presentation panels. Please focus on your design and your usb submittal.

Don't forget that you can post all your questions online for everyone to see.

Good luck!
